Entryway Trends For 2025: Expert Approved Colors, Wallpaper & More!

entryway trends 2025 3

The entryway is one of the most, if not the most important space in your interior to create a welcoming impression. Color plays an integral role, as does the flooring choices and storage solutions, or lack of that you have.

Redesigning entryways is one of my favorite things to do, especially tackling narrow dark entryways, and transforming them into soothing spaces that are light and airy, it is possible!

Trends are continually changing, especially when it comes to elements such as colors and wall coverings. I’ve got the low down on some of the biggest entryway trends in 2025 that will help you to achieve a bang-on-trend space for the year ahead that will warmly welcome you home everyday.

Entryway Trends For 2025

The biggest shake up in trends this year comes from the colors that are trending, and we are seeing the use of richer, pigmented and bolder colours throughout an interior.

The trends from the year ahead come from a culmination of brand insights, color of the year launches, as well as my own observations on things I have been seeing rise in the interior world.

Rich, Pigmented Paint Colors

We’re not seeking permission to use color in our interiors in 2025, and we’re becoming more adventurous with color. Richer, more pigmented colors like blues, reds, greens and pinks are on the rise.

If you have a dark, narrow hallway, you don’t have to completely shy away from color either, you just need to lean into colors with warm based undertones to help counteract any cold light. This could be yellow, red, pink or even green based colors.

In my eyes, whilst green will always be a popular color for an interior, blue has become a hotly anticipated color in an interior. It can feel bright, warm and cosy all at the same time with the right hue, and it is a welcoming color for an entryway which feels light and breezy.

Take inspiration from the below hallway featuring Cambrian Blue Satin Paint & Cambrian Blue Wall Paint by Annie Sloan on the lower half of the wall and bannister. The warm white above it draws the eye up, and the monochrome flooring contrasts beautifully for a really modern look.

My best advice? Use the color. Don’t be afraid of it! Just remember that heavily pigmented shades will ALWAYS look darker in your darkest corners which is why testing the paint beforehand on an A4 sheet of paper to take around the entryway is the best way to see how light conditions will adapt with the color.

Switching Up Floor Tiles For Interest

A commonly asked question I get regarding paint and flooring is whether the same type should be used throughout an open plan area, or into an adjacent room that runs off from the entryway.

Using one type of flooring throughout has always been the status quo as it helps flow and easy transition between rooms, but this is where things are beginning to change. Using different types of flooring with a clever divide (threshold) really brings such design flair and can look amazing if executed correctly.

The experts at Ca’ Pietra suggest the following, ‘If you want your downstairs rooms to have distinct division, switch up your floor tiles between spaces and you’ll do just that. Be mindful of how different they are though and what your partitions are to make sure the transition from room to room isn’t jarring. It’s also worth checking the depth of tiles when you’re picking too, so that there’s no step up, or down, as you wander between rooms”.

There is no right or wrong choice whether you stick to one type of flooring, or have a little bit of fun, but getting it right as Ca’ Pietra point out is imperative. I personally love the transition between a wood and terracotta floor tile, it’s best to speak with your flooring installers to help you create a sufficient border between the two floors to avoid the need for a threshold bar. You also can’t but wooden flooring straight up to another substrate because wood contracts with heat.

Midimalism Trend

Heard of the ‘midimalism trend’? You might have guessed from the name, but it seeks out the perfect middle ground between the loud and fabulous ‘maximalist’ design trend and the more pared back and simplistic ‘minimalist’ interior trend.

This balanced trend is on the rise for 2025. You no longer have to choose which camp to sit in and the result is a personal and inspiring space.

A great example is Anne Hathaway’s entryway below which was designed by Studio Shamshiri. The layout remains simple, which I believe is what every entryway should be – good flow is key to avoid it looking cluttered.

The busy tiles are a maximalist dreams, balanced gorgeously with the wooden beamed ceiling and two tone walls with a softer shade on the top. We’ve got the bold colors going on, but the styling is minimal and the furniture is well placed.

What I like about this trend is it’s an easy one for many to recreate without having to knock down walls.

Coastal Inspired Entryways Are Rising

Coastal inspired interiors haven’t ever gone away, it’s up there with farmhouse design for being a considered and popular trend, but with the rise of bolder shades and blues running front and foremost, opting for a coastal inspired space now is a good idea.

It’s a design trend that works well for large and super small spaces as you can be considerate with the colors. Warm off-whites are a key part of a color palette and they work well in any entryway, creating a light and airy space.

Whilst coastal inspired spaces are on the rise, ‘commercial coastal’ is not on the bingo card for 2025, overtly coastal items such as ships, anchors and seagull shaped motifs are not on-trend.

Coastal inspired interiors of 2025 are well considered, with subtle nods to coastal inspired places – this includes the use of natural materials, wood, seagrass, rattan and a gorgeous color scheme that is modern, yet nods to those relaxing, soothing hues of the coast.

Earthy Neutrals

Earthy inspired spaces were some of my most read articles on Sleek-chic Interiors last year, and those search habits suggest that the need to lean into earthier schemes in 2025 is happening.

An earthy color scheme can include off-whites, creams, browns, greens, reds and greys. The earthy color palette is popular in living rooms and bedrooms, so an extension of that into an entryway is a cohesive move that just feels soothing and welcoming.

Do expect unexpected pops of bold color to nail the look. Painting stairs in a bold shade like this Yes Chef terracotta color from Coat Paints is nothing short of unexpected, yet it perfectly plays on that ‘unexpected red theory’ which suggests every room should have a pop of red as it helps to pull any color scheme and interior together. What do you think?

Refreshingly easy to recreate in your own space, if you go bold anywhere, I do think stair treads are a fun place to start, it’s typically one of the first things you see as you step into an entryway.

Biophilic Design

An extension from earthy entryways is the lean into seeking further natural design elements, which is where biophilic inspired design comes from.

Direct Tile Warehouse agreed that nature-inspired elements are a big design trend for 2025.

“One of the key interior design trends for 2025 is all about bringing the beauty of the outdoors inside. Imagine luscious indoor plants, striking green walls, and a flood of natural light. It’s not just about looks, though. Using materials like wood and stone creates a soothing, nature-inspired space that’s as good for your soul as it is for your style, helping you create a calm, rejuvenating environment where you can truly unwind”.

Biophilic design can cover many elements from ensuring you’re getting plenty of natural light into a space, to opting for natural materials in your design, and adding plenty of air purifying plants to your entryway.

Our interiors are our safe spaces, and as the years go on from our post pandemic world, we are still drawn to creating cozy, intentional spaces. Incorporating any form of this into your entryway will keep your space feeling on-trend, but it will make you feel good to be in it too.

Introducing Tactile Elements

Paint often seems like an obvious solution to an entryway, but introducing tactile elements and layering through different textures is the way to upscale your entryway in 2025.

A well selected wallpaper can completely transform the look and feel of an entryway, in particular textured wallpaper like the below image. It heightens the design whilst not feeling maximalist or creating a claustrophobic feel with heavily patterned wallpaper.

Tying the wallpaper in with a well matched paint color is a successful way to do this, it makes it feel intentional and creates a great flow in this transitional space.

Wallpaper is just not a great solution in busy transitional entryways, if you have pets or kids, especially. However, wallpaper would still be just as effective on an upper wall above panelling, this way you still benefit from the texture and layered feel, yet you can have durable eggshell paint on the lower half that can easily be wiped clean.

This is why we mustn’t always follow trends by the rule book, and designing an interior must take into consideration how you live and use the space in the first instance. Great interior design is NOT just following what is trending, but it’s moulding it to suit your lifestyle.

Modern Neutrals

There is still very much a place for neutrals in our interior, but they have a more modern, warmer feel than the greys of the interior world.

This warm based Glacier White paint color by Benjamin Moore is a perfect example, it’s what I call an elevated modern neutral. It’s not clinical and it’s not cold. Paired with a gorgeous green paint color and monochrome flooring and we have a modern entryway which is light, bright, modern and just makes you want to move in.

Picking the right neutral is really important. Unless you have an entryway that benefits from a lot of light throughout the entire day, I always suggest following similar principles to that of a room with a north orientation. Pick a white with a yellow, red, pink or green based undertone, it will counteract any blue light associated with the space and it will lift the color scheme.

That in itself is one of my top tips for creating a trendy and modern looking entryway in 2025 that works with your space.
